New Counterfeit Detection App Launches

Counterfeit coin detection
Technology helps identify fake coins

A new smartphone app uses artificial intelligence to detect counterfeit coins. CoinVerify launched last week on iOS and Android platforms with support for US coins from 1793 to present.

The app analyzes photographs to identify weight, diameter, and design inconsistencies that indicate counterfeits. Early testing shows 94% accuracy on common fakes.

How It Works

Users photograph both sides of a coin against a neutral background. The AI compares the images against a database of genuine examples. Results appear in seconds with confidence ratings.

The free version handles basic authentication. Premium subscribers get detailed analysis including die variety identification and grade estimates. Professional dealers receive API access for high-volume scanning.
